Duane Lakey - Director
I am eager to learn and enjoy experiencing new things in business and life. What I am most passionate about is making a tangible difference in what ever I do and to add value where needed (and not).
I started out in the Freight industry in 2002 as a Shipping Clerk but when I changed jobs in 2004 I started in the Finance department. I literally started at the bottom as a ‘’splitter/admin assistant’’ putting together document packs for clients and today I have experience in every facet of accounting and finance within the industry.
Tiago Pinto-Duarte - Director
Tiago is passionate about problem solving, liaising with service providers to get the job done so that clients are always happy with the results.
Tiago has experience in the freight forwarding industry, from new business rep to sales manager.
Juanita Keown - Director
Juanita is passionate about building relationships with clients and about finding the most cost effective way to action all shipments, so that clients always recommend our services to others. She is passionate about client and service levels that constantly improve, to set GLA apart from the rest of the industry.
Juanita has a strong admin background, coupled with sales and servicing in the freight forwarding industry.
Wendy Nel - CFO Africa
I am passionate about doing things right and believe that if you have committed to a task that you need to do put every effort into this to ensure that that your are doing it to best of your ability.
In my downtime I love spending time with my family, walking my dogs, travelling to new places and meeting new people.
I started working straight out of school more than 30 years ago as a forex clerk in a merchant bank, then after deciding that I would like to follow a career in the accounting field I worked my way through from junior bookkeeper to senior FM and then to being the GM of a freight forwarding company and now I have come back to my financial roots and forte. I studied part time while working and attained my post graduate in 2000. I have worked in finance for most of my career and been in the freight industry for more than 20 years.
Dawie Alberts - Regional Director East Africa
My passion in life is to leave behind a legacy, be it in your personal or professional life.
My interaction with various cultures and people has allowed me to understand and experience what it means “to make a difference in someone’s life” it does not matter how big or small that difference is as long as you “make a difference”.
My experience in the freight industry started in the courier industry in 1988 as an operations controller, which led to operations manager and branch manager. I left the courier industry in 1992 to join a cross border operator which had numerous offices in Sub Saharan Africa. I have lived in Malawi for a number of years and since 2006 I have been based in Johannesburg, developing, opening and managing offices across the continent. I have been doing this for the last 27 years and still enjoy the daily challenges this continent and the industry brings.
