Global Logistics Alliance invited to the launch of XiNa Solar One

Global Logistics Alliance has successfully completed its role as the only local freight forwarder for XiNa, KaXu and Khi Solar One and has been privileged to play a part in renewable energy development. The KaXu, Khi and XiNa plants are 3 of the 11 solar CSP and PV plants that Global Logistics Alliance have spearheaded in providing total logistics solutions.

Our directors attended the opening of XiNa Solar One near Pofadder on the 18th May, which was officiated by the Minister of Energy, Jeff Radebe.

This R9.40 billion project is the third solar plant Abengoa has built, following KaXu Solar One and Khi Solar One. XiNa is owned by an association between Abengoa, the Public Investment Corporation the Industrial Development Corporation and the XiNa Community Trust.

South Africa still sources majority of its electricity from fossil fuels and these projects represent a critical milestone towards cleaner energy production. Together Xina, KaXu and Khi Solar One will generate 250 WM of renewable power to Eskom over the next 20 years.

XiNa Solar One and KaXu Solar One, our country’s first solar thermal plant which uses parabolic troughs, make up the largest solar platform in Sub-Sahara Africa. XiNa features important technical improvements in its solar field and storage system, which makes it a very competitive solar plant.

We look forward to future project cargo.
